Public Art in Malden

The purpose of The Switchbox Project is to bring the work of Malden artists directly to the public with the intent of beautifying the city and showcasing the arts. The combined efforts of the Malden Cultural Council, the office of former Mayor Richard C. Howard, Mayor Gary Christenson, Malden Arts and many dedicated volunteers have made this possible.

Windows Art Malden (WAM), the flagship Malden Arts project now an established annual fall event, matches Malden artists with downtown businesses to create a three-week juried public art exhibit in Malden Center storefronts in September. WAM is organized by volunteers and has received generous support from the Malden Cultural Council, local businesses, and the offices of past Mayor Richard C. Howard and the current Mayor Gary Christenson as part of a citywide arts initiative.
