The house, especially in winter, can be seen as an extension of ourselves. We spend our time indoors during winter. The house is a shell, and it keeps us protected from the weather outside. The windows could be our eyes. We look out our windows and look in other windows, seeing into other eyes; other houses. Rectangular frames enclose our glowing views. We watch through layers of glass, screen, frost fog and snow. We see a world in shades of gray with muted colors. We experience the contrasts of inside and out, warm and cold, dark and light. |
