The Cat Book is contained in a terra cotta slipcase, Reply is held in a sterling silver clasp, and The Plum Book slips into a hand marbled case. Reply is a first edition of Florence H. Williams and is a reply in verse to her husband’s This Is Just To Say. Small Things and Chair History were carved in luan. The pronounced grain creates a weathered effect on the printed image. |

| Letterpress printing, in which each piece of lead type is set by hand, gives a soft impression into the paper’s surface. This slight embossment adds to the tactile quality of the book. These pieces combine a number of printmaking techniques: stenciling, linocut and woodcut. Copyright 2007 Stephanie Mahan Stigliano. All rights reserved. |
